Love people and the news? We need your help!

Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the Newseum. Our volunteers fill many vital roles on the museum floor including engaging visitors in our galleries and covering the Information Desk.

Many of our volunteers sought out a way to become involved in the Newseum after experiencing the excitement generated in them by their first visit. Often times they were also impressed with how knowledgeable, friendly, helpful and professional our volunteers are and wish to become part of such a quality group with strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Our volunteers work a set schedule of a minimum four-hour shift each week or a four-hour shift every other weekend. After completing all required classes and working the minimum number of hours over a required period, volunteers are considered “universal” volunteers, which mean that they are able to assist in a variety of roles.  In an effort to remain current, all volunteers are required to periodically take continuing education classes.
