1. What does my Inauguration Day Package include?

    The Newseum's Inauguration Day Package will include a live feed of the swearing-in ceremony on the 40-foot-by-22-foot high-definition media screen; a welcome kit that includes a commemorative lanyard, a limited-edition Newseum button and a small American flag; full access to the Newseum's 15 galleries and 15 theaters; food and beverages available for purchase.

  2. Do I need to purchase an Inauguration Day Package for my child?

    Yes. Everyone ages 7 and up must purchase an Inauguration Day Package. Children ages 6 and under are admitted free.

  3. Can my Inauguration Day ticket be used again on another day?

    No. All Inauguration Day Package tickets must be used on Jan. 21, 2013, only. All sales are final.

  4. What happens if severe weather or security issues prevent me from using my ticket?

    There are no refunds for no-shows or unused packages. All sales are final.

  5. I have an annual Press Pass membership. What do I have to do to gain admission on Inauguration Day? Will there be special access for annual members?

    Please note: Inauguration Day Packages are SOLD OUT. Donors and annual members will have the opportunity to purchase Inauguration Day Packages a week prior to the general public. A special entry line will be available at the group entrance on C Street for Founding Partners, donors and annual members. All annual members should bring their membership cards, as well as their Inauguration Day Package tickets, for entry.

  6. Can I become a member before Inauguration Day and get into the Newseum through the members' line?

    Yes, but you must pick up your membership card at the Newseum and purchase an Inauguration Day Package on any day prior to Inauguration Day. Once your membership is processed, you will be sent additional information about obtaining an Inauguration Day Package within 24 to 48 hours.

  7. I am an annual member and want to bring guests. Will I be able to buy the usual discounted tickets for them that day?

    No. Only Inauguration Day Package tickets can be used on Inauguration Day. Discounts are not available.

  8. Can guests stand in the members' line and buy their tickets inside?

    No. Because of the anticipated crowds, only members with their membership cards and their Inauguration Day Package tickets will be admitted through the members' line.

  9. Will group rates be available?

    No. Group discounts will not apply on Inauguration Day.

  10. Can I bring a lawn chair or cooler inside to watch the inauguration parade?

    No. Lawn chairs, coolers and any other large objects will not be permitted. Please review our security policy for more details.

  11. Can I view the parade on the outside terraces?

    No. Due to Secret Service security restrictions, all outdoor terraces will be closed to the public.

  12. Am I guaranteed a view of the Capitol and/or Pennsylvania Avenue?

    No. Viewing space at the Newseum’s large glass windows overlooking Pennsylvania Avenue is limited.  All outdoor terraces will be closed to the public.  The swearing-in ceremony and inaugural parade will be displayed on the Newseum’s 40-foot-by-22-foot high-definition media screen.
  13. Will food be provided?

    Yes. Food and beverages will be available for purchase at designated stations in the Newseum. No outside food and beverages are permitted in the Newseum.

  14. Can I take pictures?

    Yes. Photography is permitted in most areas of the Newseum.

  15. What time will the Newseum open on Inauguration Day?

    The Newseum will be open from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Inauguration Day.

  16. Where do I enter the Newseum on Inauguration Day?

    Admission is on a first-come, first-served basis through the group entrance on C Street.

  17. Can I leave the building at any time?

    Yes. Visitors can leave at any time, but due to security restrictions, only the doors on C Street can be used for entry and exit. Inauguration Day package tickets are required for re-entry.

  18. How can I get to the Newseum?

    The Newseum does not provide parking. Metro is strongly recommended. Security checkpoints will be in place. Please visit www.wmata.com to determine the closest station to the Newseum that will be open.

  19. Do I need to bring my printed Inauguration Day Package tickets with me?

    Yes. You must bring your printed Inauguration Day package tickets with you to enter the Newseum.
