Newseum Brings Top Headlines to Penn Ave.

The Newseum may not be open yet, but passers–by can glimpse up–to–the minute headlines from America’s Main Street.

At Pennsylvania Avenue and Sixth Street, the Newseum’s six news tickers — the longest at 143 feet — bring visitors headlines in real time from The Associated Press news wire.

Newsrooms around the world rely on the AP as an essential provider of up–to–the–second breaking news.

On Sept. 6, Fred Thompson announced his presidential candidacy. The AP news ticker carried the headline, easily visible from the avenue outside the Newseum.
