Angelina Jolie Promotes Movie, Tours Newseum
WASHINGTON — In the new movie "Salt," Angelina Jolie plays a CIA agent accused of being part of a Russian sleeper spy cell — a plot that eerily reflects today's headlines.
But during a recent trip to Washington to promote the movie, the superstar actress became a museum visitor when she received an after-hours tour of several Newseum galleries, including the Time Warner World News Gallery, where she saw artifacts belonging to slain Wall Street Journal reporter Daniel Pearl. Jolie portrayed Pearl's wife, Mariane, in the 2007 movie "A Mighty Heart."
Jolie and co-stars Liev Schreiber and Chiwetel Ejiofor were interviewed by approximately 40 national entertainment reporters in the Newseum's Knight TV Studios.
Several scenes in "Salt" were filmed last spring in Washington. The movie opens July 23.
