NightGallery @ the Newseum
WASHINGTON — The Newseum will become a bit more luminous at night when the 74-foot-tall First Amendment tablet on the façade of the building is illuminated with a digital slideshow of 82 of the most fascinating photographs in the world.
When: Nov. 10, 2010
Time: 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
NightGallery, as the exhibit is called, is part of the FotoWeek DC annual festival that starts Nov. 6-13. The façades of other Washington buildings and landmarks will become canvases for a dazzling display of images from FotoWeek’s international awards competitions, exhibitions and museum archives.
Sixty of the images that will be projected at the Newseum were selected from “The President’s Photographer,” a new National Geographic book that covers 50 years of White House photography. Another 22 images featured in the Newseum exhibit “Covering Katrina” will showcase the photography of The Times-Picayune in New Orleans and the Sun Herald in Biloxi and Gulfport, Miss. The newspapers shared the Pulitzer Prize for their courageous coverage of Hurricane Katrina.
