Newseum visitors got into the holiday spirit in a special program with stage and screen actor Terrence Currier, who participated in the Newseum’s traditional holiday reading of "Is There a Santa Claus?"
"Is There a Santa Claus?" history’s most widely reprinted newspaper editorial, first appeared in The (New York) Sun in 1897.
Ellie Milewski read the letter that eight year-old Virginia O’Hanlon wrote to the editor of the Sun and Currier read editorial writer Francis P. Church’s response, which contained the answer "Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus."
