ABC's Cokie Roberts, presidential historian Richard Norton Smith and Washington Post national correspondent Krissah Thompson talk about the impact of America's first ladies on the nation.

The program comes on the eve of the second season of C-SPAN's original series "First Ladies: Influence & Image," which begins Sept. 9. The series, done in cooperation of the White House Historical Association, will air every night through February, beginning with Edith Roosevelt, and concluding with Michelle Obama.

Roberts is the author of "Ladies of Liberty: The Women Who Shaped Our Nation" and "Founding Mothers: The Women Who Raised Our Nation." Smith is a presidential historian and former head of six presidential libraries. As the Post's national correspondent, Thompson covers first lady Michelle Obama, among other issues.
